Sonya Melissa

Sonya Melissa graduated from the University of Maryland with BAs in Dance and Philosophy, and began taking aerial lessons with Air Dance Bernasconi and then Arachne Aerial Arts in 2007.  She has performed recently at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center, CityDance Center at Strathmore, Joe's Movement Emporium, and Dance Place.  Sonya takes dance classes throughout the Washington area at Maryland Youth Ballet, CityDance Center at Strathmore, Joy of Motion Dance Center, Trapeze School New York in DC, and Joe's Movement Emporium.  She teaches flute and saxophone lessons to children throughout the Washington area and is working on her physical therapist assistant certification.  With generous support from her friends and family, Sonya cherishes the opportunity to make her artistic voice heard and is thrilled to be a part of the DC Aerial Collective.
